FAQ
Please find below some of our Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: When are sessions run at Jack and Jill?
A:
We run morning and afternoon sessions on weekdays. Morning sessions are 9.00am-12noon, and afternoon sessions are from 12.15pm to 3.15pm.
Q: What age can my child start at Jack and Jill?
A:
Children can attend Jack and Jill from 2 years 6 months up to school age.
Q: How much do sessions cost at Jack and Jill?
A:
Nursery Education Grant funded places are available from the term after children reach their third birthday. For children who cannot claim funding the fee is currently £9.50 per 3 hour session. A one off registration fee of £10 also applies.
Q: What is offered in each session?
A:
Creative activities such as painting and playdough are included in free play, alongside self-guided imaginative play with our many educational toys. There are additional creative activities each week such as making collages, baking and growing plants, often relating to seasonal or world events. In good weather the children play outside in our enclosed playground. At the end of each session the children enjoy circle time in the quiet room with the teachers, reading stories and talking about items brought in from home on the Interest Tray.
Q:
How do I get a place for my child at Jack and Jill?
A:
It is advisable to get your child's name on the waiting list; application forms are available at playgroup. Alternatively you are welcome to apply by e-mail giving your child's name, date of birth, and your name, address and telephone number.
Q: What policies do Jack and Jill follow?
A:
Our policy statements are available for inspection at the playgroup, or can be sent out by request. All our policies are designed to offer the best possible experience for all the children and families in the group. They are reviewed on a regular basis and comments and suggestions are always welcome.
Q:
When can my child return to Jack and Jill after illness?
A:
If your child has .......
Chickenpox: Return to playschool when the last blister has scabbed over.
Head Lice: Return once the head and hair has been treated and cleared.
Conjunctivitus: Return once the discharge has stopped.
Diarrhoea: Return 48 hours after the last loose stool.
Sickness: Return 48 hours after the last vomit.
Please let us know if your child is suffering from any of the above as we like to inform parents where possible of ailments that are "going around".
Q: Does my child have to be toilet trained to attend Jack and Jill?
A:
We happily accept children
who are still in nappies but ask that they wear pull-ups to make changing easier for us.
Teaching staff will gladly support you in helping to toilet train your child while in pre-school when you decide to begin the process.
